Close to Home Cardiology Services
Mercer Health is pleased to be able to offer close to home cardiology services to the community. From helping you understand your risk of heart disease with vascular screenings, to offering extensive cardiac testing and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation following illness or surgery, we are here to support you every step of the way.
Cardiology Services, located on the first floor of the east wing at Mercer County Community Hospital, uses state-of-the-art technology to evaluate heart function and diagnose heart disease and disorders. The types of tests we offer, which must be ordered by a physician, include:
Holter Monitoring – This 24 to 48 hour test records the heart rhythm over a period of time. While the test is being conducted, the patient keeps a diary of activities so that it can be matched to any unusual activity in the heart.
Event Monitoring – During this diagnostic procedure, the patient wears a heart monitor for 30 days. The monitor records unusual heart rhythm when activated by the patient.
Echocardiography – An Ultrasound test used to assess the function of the heart. An Echocardiogram can examine the heart muscle, heart valves and blood flow through the heart.
Stress Testing – This type of test provides information on how well your heart works when physically stressed. Stress testing assists your physician in diagnosing heart disease, assessing response to current treatment and monitoring disease progression. All stress tests are personally supervised by a cardiologist.
Our Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation program is available for patients who have experienced a recent heart-related illness, surgery or intervention. Our goal in cardiac rehab is to empower our patients with the knowledge, confidence and desire they need to reach and maintain improved fitness and a healthy lifestyle.
